LSI Logic Delivers the Industry's First 200 MHz ARM946E-S(TM) Core
Improved Offering of Popular Core Boosts Overall System Performance In Increasingly Demanding Communications, Storage and Consumer Applications
MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- LSI Logic Corporation
(NYSE: LSI - news) today announced the availability of the industry's first
ARM946E-S(TM) processor core to run at 200 MHz, a significant performance
improvement to earlier implementations of the core. LSI Logic's system-on-chip
(SoC) customers who need the highest performance embedded processor cores
available will realize the full benefit of the new offering to maximize
overall system performance in their increasingly demanding applications. LSI
Logic's implementation of this popular core, licensed from ARM Limited,
includes 16K Bytes instruction and 16K Bytes data caches and configurable
tightly coupled memories (TCMs). The 200 MHz ARM946E-S core extends LSI
Logic's broad library of CoreWare® products that support the AMBA(TM)
2.0 AHB bus specification. LSI Logic has already won a number of key customer
SoC designs with the new implementation of the ARM946E-S core.

Jazelle(TM) Java technology-enabled processor core.
